Default Kooks Header Install Question?

I followed Corvette Mags install of Kooks on the Zip Mule C6, & they mentioned use supplied gaskets which I naturally assumed they ment the ones that came from Kooks. Then it stated first go to 11lbs of torque, then back through at 18. I noticed all the threads/post stating the steel oems gasket were the way to go, that said are the torque specs the same? Also, should anything go on the bolts? Thanks in advance.

I always use antiseize and TQ to 18. Never an issue. I have used the stock gaskets over and over again. Toss the ones they give you with the headers.

After much research and a couple of calls to Kooks, I decided on using the original/stock gaskets, using anti-seize instead of thread lock (that is what kooks recommended,) and going with the 2 articles I had suggesting 11 ft lbs on the first pass and 18 ft lbs on the final pass. I did start a post on this about 3 months ago about anti seize versus thread lock. Personal preference. The risk with thread lock is possibly damaging the threads on the aluminum block if you ever want to remove the headers. That is why I went with anti seize. No problems whatsoever for 3 months now.

Default Thanks!

Thank you gentlemen, I sure wish I read all the posts on using the OEMs b/f I installed them. My garage is'nt heated but it is insulated, so it should be warm enough. I guess today's as good as any!

I used the 3M hi temp anti-seize on the header bolts. GM uses a yellow thread locker that that I have not seen before. Most use either blue for bolts or red for studs and green for small screws.
