thoughts on this procharger ?
Hey there guys,
I was drifting through ebay and found this procharger for sale. I emailed the company about it and apparently the 07 Vette it was on was "lightly rolled" and they are parting it out. It had 4k miles on car and even less on the procharger. It has a link showing it running. Sounds like it should although the cooler is F#cked up from the roll and the fins are bent. I figured I could send the head out and have new fins put in and get another cooler and be good to go ? Anyway, for 3300 is this something I should look at ? I am not into dropping 6 or 7 grand for a new one but was wanting some ideas or thoughts. I figured some of you could give me some info. I have had blowers(Vortech t trim) on my mustangs but havent ever blown a Vette. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Here is the link, hope it doesnt violate any forum rules....

I've had a fair bit of experience with blower kits as I used to be an installer for a national tuner. I think the main issue with this deal is going to be what you don't get. That would be the deciding factor for me. Is this guy going to get you every piece of hardware? I doubt it. You will save a few bucks but then be pulling your hair out looking for this or that. I've had folsk show up at my shop with interweb kits and I have hell trying to assemble it. In my lowly opinion $3300 aint worth the hassle.
The other thing that folks don't like to talk about with kits are the hidden costs. Fueling is usually the culprit wheather it be injectors or a BAP or whatever. You usually wind up spending a bunch of scratch even when you buy a new kit from a vendor.
Having said that, I am aware of few companies that sell truly complete kits albeit for more money like you pointed out. A&A, ECS, Cartek all have very complete kits to include fueling, good band clamps and pretty sheet metal that you have to go looking for with others. I don't mean that to be an all inclusive list by any means, its just a few that come to mind that I have personally dealt with one way or another.
Blowers are fun. Assemblys aren't unless you're nuts like me and live for this crap. Assemblys from used and mismatched kits are a kick in the jimmy sack. (but I do em for folks all day long) Hope this helps your decision making process!

Thanks for the post, I thought it looked like it was pretty complete, exception being needing a cooler and the cover as I wouldnt use a bent one. I was hoping the stock injectors would work on this kit but you would know better than me as I am not nearly as familiar with it. I thought by the looks of it that it looked complete, does anything else seem to be missing from the pictures ? What would be a good price for the kit as is ? 2300 ? Just your opinion ?

If it's the vanes on the impeller that are bent, then there's no way I'd ever consider it. The vanes were probably bent from ingesting something and there is no telling what could be damaged inside. Just save up and buy a new kit. Some vendor had 4 Novi kits for sale here just last week for about $5k. A complete kit.

A piece of machinary that spins at very high RPM is made to exact tolerances. I would not take a chance on something that looks pretty banged up like that. I wouldnt take much to knock something out of wack just the littlest bit, then your screwed.

Piecing together a project like this usually winds up costing you more time, money, and aggrevation than what you thought you were saving. Do it once and do it right.
