Default Stall converter install gone wrong

Installed my newly arrived Vigilante stall converter yesterday on my '08. From the get go I noticed it stalled at 3k not at the 2400-2600 I specified, and thougjht no big deal just better performance was forced on me. Secondly I noticed that gears lasted longer under WOT and a small flare up during the 2-3 shift. Thirdly (is that even a word?) the car did not light them up like before and especially the way it should after converter installs. I let the car rest for a while and took it out for a second run to check the lock up engagement and if fuel economy was affected during cruising speeds, that performed great. Upon returning from the cruise I decided to pull into an isolated road not far from my shop. I launched from a standstill and the wheels were definately spinning and I feathered it through, second gear engages good and again I noticed the gear is lasting longer, and 3rd gear bam, rev limiter bouncing and I immediately throw it into neutral and shut it off. I pull off to the side and the car is puking trans fluid and left quite a large puddle obviously. I hauled it back to the shop and put it on the lift. I noticed the rubber and small metal plugs were missing from the bellhousing, from being shot out due to the immediate pressure leak. I inspected it and the front seal seems to be in place. I will fill the tranny to verify the location of the leak and likely remove it thereafter.

Any one have a similiar problem? I will keep you guys posted as this develops.....

Did you also install a LARGE cooler for the trans? They make huge heat with a stall converter.

Man I wish you the best of luck. I had a 2800 and 3600 vigilante in my 99 SS Camaro. I really liked the improvement in ET, and the car would just tear the tires off.

I am no expert but it sounds like it is never locking up at higher rpms like it is supposed to and its much higher stall then you specified IMHO you are right on the $ as far as picking steet appropriate stall speed parameters...hope they will work the problem out for you.
