I have an 08 with a dead batt. I would like to replace it with a better batt. optima any good ? what one would fit in my car ? kinda sucks to have a 4 month old car and find it has a dead batt.
Before you swap out the battery take the car to the dealer. You have a problem somewhere that has to be corrected under warranty. Theres no way an 08 car battery would die like that.
Optima is the best, but you need to find out what killed the battery in your 08. I have Optima in my Vette, Acura and had one in the Jeep I just got rid of.
wow. before you do that, have you had a battery tender on it? and if so, how long?
I doubt if your battery is completely gone; it may very well be dead until you get a jump. Get a jump, take the car out, drive it for at least a half hour (45 min. is better), at no less than 1500 rpm (meaning, 60+) and it'll be (hopefully) fully charged. Connect up a battery tender (about $20).
Yes, Optima is good. But cthusker has recommended a seemingly even better battery, the Odyssey. See summitracing.com and jegs.com. Read up about odyssey batteries.
When the time comes, that will be my choice. One other alternative (which I haven't confirmed yet) may be the Sears DieHard Platinum battery which may (stress: MAY) be an Odyssey re-badged.
Note:
NYC may be correct, depending on how long it's been since your last drive. There could be a drain on your car.
If I'm not mistaken there's a proper way to shut the car off. Manual or Automatic? You may be turning it off leaving you accessories on etc. Read your manual for the proper instructions or search the forum for them as they are posted here also. Just thought that may be the cause for the dead batt.
