Default Roof Panel Fix

Was at the dealers today and told the fix for the roof panel noises will be in sometime in April,,they put me on the list to notify me when they have the parts.

There is a factory fix coming with improved parts? (other than just re-adjusting the mounts?)

This would be great news -- Anyone know any more info on this?

I understand this to be true, a redesigned, retrofit latch is coming in April to address the creaking issues. I'm not sure the date is in stone but I've read many places it has been promised this Spring.

Like the Mp3 adapter plug...?

I received the prototype handles last week, for evaluation. So far so good, but I have not been out for a long trip yet.

After trying all the other suggested fixes, to no avail, I put some teflon plumbers tape on the "track" that the latch handle roller engages. That worked. I don't think it will last forever, but it convinces me that the problem is in the roller area. Let's hope the new latches work.

I put a little bearing grease on the front pins and the rollers and haven't heard a creak in a month.

Since the new handles are not availble at SPO yet, there is not bulletin at this time for handle replacement.

I've only had this happen a few times on bad pavement, albeit that's in the first 500 miles.
I think I want to be subscribed to this thread...

I must say I hope the factory cars see it first since mine will be built pretty soon.

[QUOTE=Kent1999;1564201606]There is a factory fix coming with improved parts? (other than just re-adjusting the mounts?)

I only have about 2700 miles on my 07 and just started hearing the "rubbing" noise. I was at WCC last weekend where I talked with a fellow Vette owner that had the same problem. Both of us hear the noises on the driver's side only. He says he fixed the problem by slightly loosening the Torx adjustment in the mechanism so the roof is not so tight against the windshield and frame. So, this may be something to try...

If you haven't tried grease on the pins and front rollers you really should. Mine started creaking in June when the weather turned hot. I put lithium grease on the front and rear pins and holes. Then I studied the contact points for the front latches and put them on the rollers and roller contact points as suggested above. Then I adjusted the rear latch one full turn tighter (it seemed like it was not too tight). Not a single creak since June. I put fresh grease on about a month ago just to maintain the fix. For me it was a $2 fix.

What to do... Read post #14 and do that. Then post whether it worked or it didn't work. Pay attention to the contact points on the front latches. Open and close it while looking under it, you'll see a little roller and its metal contact area. Lube the roller and the contact points of the roller. If it works you owe me a beer. If it doesn't work then you at least tried something.

Default Roof Squeek

My problem is more of a cross between a creek and a squeek, but it sounds like it is coming from the rear pins on the roof panel and only on rough bouncy road. on smooth pavement, no noise. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've been emailing with the factory & April is the expected date for the parts. They sent me a temporary set of handles which they say will take care of the problem but I don't have a proper tork wrench & the weather is too bad to take the car out to the dealer.
