Make sure you tell him you heard of it on the forum and they have been giving forum members a $140 plus shipping deal.
I got this unit from Jim last week. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a well constructed piece of equipment with a cover case and everything.

You da man! on TPMS. I am wanting to buy a basic relearn tool for my 08 C6 and have read all the posts and viewed your videos (excellent!). What is your opinion on the ATEQ VT 10 for $90. It's advertised to reset all current know TPSM's. How about the ATEQ VT 40 for $279? I just want to relearn my sensors if I need to and help my "buds" do the same with their C6's.

Based on my limited work with them, I'd say ATEQ makes a great tool. I have only worked with about 4 VT-50's, a VT-60 (which I don't think they make anymore - I believe it was a VT-50 with a rechargeable battery), and an ATEQ tool made for Chrysler/Daimler products.

All of the ATEQ tools I have worked with had a screen, but the ones your talking about don't have a screen.

I guess the VT-10 would work with the C6, and anything under 100 bucks is a good deal!!!

PM sent,

Bob

Does anyone have news on the ATEQ VT-10? Is the only thing the relearn procedure need is to trigger the sensors? Seems like just what the (low budget) Dr. ordered.

Bobz08C6 is getting one. He says he'll give a report on it when he gets it and checks it out.

He lives in Michigan near ATEQ and was going to go pick it up for $99.

On their website it says it's 99 bucks, but when you click on the "buy" button it shows that S&H is more than $30!?!?

But, for around $130, t's still the cheapest tool out there that I know of. Compared to the Bartec tool (about $150 with shipping), the ATEQ VT-10 is apparently a universal tool that will work with ALL sensors. The Bartec Trackside is designed to only work on the C6.

I'm looking forward to Bobz08C6's report!

I bought this ATEQ tool on Monday and it was inexpensive, works on my 08 and they say it works on all domestic and Euro vehicles to date.

It's great to have a forum! I asked ATEQ if they could adjust their s & h fee down from $30.00 to $15.00. I received an email from them today and they stated that starting today the s & h will be $15.00 when ordered online at www.ATEQUSA.com. That puts the unit at $114.00 including s & h, will work on all current vehicles including Euro and makes it the least expensive tool I have seen so far.

There supposedly is a manual process for synching the GM TPMS sensors (it is described in my 08 Escalade's owner's manual, but I have not been unsuccessful using it). It involves setting up the DIC to receive the reprogramming info, then starting at the left front tire, either adding or removing air from the tire, listening for the horn to beep, and then moving around the car clockwise, repeating the process for each tire in sequence. At the rear driver tire, you should hear two beeps indicating the procedure has successfully reprogrammed the tire sensors. (As an aside, I note that this procedure is NOT described in either the 05 or 06 C6 owner's manual. Don't know about the 07 or 08 manuals).

When I recently had a TPMS problem on my Escalade, I discussed this process with some techs at my local TireWorld (who have been really good/careful about changing out wheels for me on my C6, fixing flats in my Goodyear runflats, etc.). They told me that most of the time, they are successful in using this process, in conjunction with holding a fairly strong magnet next to the valve stem while they let air out of each tire.

They were not successful, however, in resetting my Escalade TPMS, and I finally had to take it to the dealer (he reprogrammed them grats for me). Thus, this particular Tireworld is purchasing a universal TPMS tool, because TPMS is now mandatory on newer automobiles and they need the ability to reprogram the gamut of cars they work on when they change out wheels or rotate tires. Just another way the regulatory boys are slowly but surely making it darn near impossible for the backyard mechanic to do his own work! (the Nanny State at its finest)

BEZ06 can tell you everything you need to know about this as well as some videos on "how to". Check his posts. The C6 cannot be relearned with a magnet. You place the vehicle in learn mode by putting the car in accessory, holding the lock/unlock on the remote until you hear a horn honk. You then have 2 minutes to complete the relearn cycle (LF, RF, RR, LF). You need an RF transmitter tool to do the actual relearn and that is what the ATEQ VT 10 will do for you. Hold it next to the tire/stem, push the button on the left and wait 5 seconds until you hear a horn honk, move to the next tire.

I'm not sure how to put the Escalade into learn mode but it is a GM product and might work the same way. The dealer should be able to tell you how to put it in learn mode.

The Escalade procedure, including putting the vehicle in the learn mode, is in the 08 owner's manual, but it doesn't work (verified both by me AND Tireworld, who tried for 15 minutes to go through the manual's procedure but were unsuccessful). Oh well, just thought there MIGHT be a manual process for the C6 similar to the Escalade (but, hey, it doesn't seem to work, anyway!). Guess I will be purchasing a tool at some point down the road.

I think the procedure you're talking about involves putting the Escalade into the learn mode, then you change the air pressure (letting out or putting in something like an 8 to 10 psi pressure change). That is a method to trigger/excite the Escalade (and some other GM) sensors. The Escalade sensors will trigger with the radio frequency from a tool as well.

The C6 sensors will ONLY trigger with a radio frequency transmission (except for a handful of very early 2005 C6's with magnetically triggered sensors).

Hey guys. I just ordered one from ATEQ MODEL VT-10 , Was $115 shipped
and they have them in stock. Contact info is "ERI" the sales Rep and can be reached at 704-999-3839. Im glad I read this thread as I was ready to get the BARTEK which limits me to my C6 only. The VT-10 can trigger all models. The only caveat is future model sensors employing a different technology. Now all I need to do is find a deal on the sensors.

For sensors, forum vendors Bob's House of Wheels may be the cheapest. I know Gene Culley has them for around $270 shipped for the set (4 sensors with the grommets/valve stem core/cap, and the retaining nuts). I think Bob's may be a little less.

I'm surprised ATEQ didn't refer you to our forum vendor Tire Rack to purchase the VT10 - I heard that's what they've been doing recently. You can see the Tire Rack tool here and it's the same price you paid:

http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=111

When you get your VT10 you'll use it just like other tools you've seen in the videos - put the car into the learn mode, then do LF, RF, RR, LR and make sure you get a honk at each wheel (double honk at the last one).

Also, if you get any instructions with your tool, it may not be very clear - but, you'll use the LEFT BUTTON on the tool to trigger C6 sensors.

BTW, DOES ANYBODY HAVE A 2010????

Apparently the 2010 models use a different sensor that you may be able to trigger with the pressure change technique that was discussed by fenderowner in a previous post. A number of other GM vehicles have sensors that can use that pressure change procedure for several years, and the 2010 Corvettes may have gone to that sensor.

If somebody with a 2010 could try programming the sensors using a change of pressure to trigger the sesnors, please let us know how it works!

Bob
