so i had the pedal stick to the floor at the track the otherday, and my fluid is less than clear and i am gonna change it. should i spend the $$ on some big dollar dat 4 fluid or just use any dot 4 i can find. anyone use and better stuff and have a better expirence?
I really there is something black in there dying the fluids too. I can change the whole thing over and it would turn black within a day on normal driving. I really think it is with the gasket

Did you read and do the entire procedure recommended by Ranger? It's not just remove the fluid and add more. You have to go thru a whole bunch of clutch engagement cycles until it stays clear. Then it should last longer.
MY QUESTION WAS ABOUT ANY SPECIFIC FLUID, WE HAVE ALL READ RANGERS THIGN, BUT I WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE TRIED THE MOTUL OR CASTROL OR ANY OTHER HIGH DOLLAR FLUID.
YOU NY GUYS GET CRANKY IN THE WINTER IN THE COLD..............SUCKERS

Relax...it's all in good fun. You sound a bit cranky yourself.
I think the majority of those who actually bother to do the clutch fluid maintenance use Prestone DOT4. It's not expensive and is readily available almost anywhere. Hell I get mine at Walmart along with a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 for under $30.
I use Motul 600 but that's because I stock it for road course use. But in my opinion and from seeing what others are doing, I think you can use pretty much any decent Dot 4.
You should get in the habit of changing it at least once a month. I change mine before each track event and after each event. It only takes 2 minutes top to do it, and once you get in the habit the fluid stays clean. C5's got black fast but that's because their cap gasket stuck in the fluid all the time. On our cars the cap does not touch the fluid.

No, I bled my system. I dont sit there with a syring swapping fluids at the reservoir.

Sorry about sounding cranky, yeah the cold weather gets us cranky at times . Anyway, to contribute to your thread, I change mine with Dot 4 by GUNK..Has worked great and clean it once a month. As long as you go with dot 4 you will be fine..Later..
Racing fluid picks up moisture faster than normal fluid, I would stay away from it. I recommend an OEM fluid from any car companies (apparently the GM one sucks), they usually last the longest and offer reasonable protection.
