The wife just told me next month its time to supercharge the new vette. Love the wife. With the exception of the supercharger the car will be bone stock (gears & exhaust). My question is about the gears 2.56. Will the stock gears hurt my times that much at the drags? Or with all the new torque will the car come out of the hole much faster?
I would worry about "stickier" tires before gears!
With all that new power,if it doesn't get traction,Your times will be slow anyways.
Good luck with it!

I always start with trial and error, see how it does with the stickies and go from there, alot of it will depend on how much rwhp you are making. If its in the low 500's them you may want to go to the 3.42 or 3.73 but if you are above 600rwhp it will probably be right where you want it.

PS. Does your wife have a like minded sister?
If he currently has 2.56:1 gears, he has an A6. 3.42 or 3.73 gears are for M6 cars, and would be overkill for an A6, even if you could find them. 3.15:1 gears are available for the A6, and could help the launch a lot. Also depends on what type of supercharger he is contemplating --- a Maggie, a centrifugal, or a turbo.

If you're going with a maggie, the 2.56 will be fine......if it's a centrifugal, you will probably want to go with a 3.15 (because of the lack of low end torque).
I dont think the maggie is out yet for the ls3. I will probably go centrifical because i dont want to change hoods.
You may want to wait until the ZR 1 supercharger is released before making any supercharger decisions.
The choice of installing 3:15's will give you a much better launch if you couple it to a good quality stall converter(2800 stall). If your going for 1/4 mile times only and your not worried about streetability---I would choose 3:42 gears linked to a 3600 stall converter. Iv'e researched my options and will also add a supercharger in the near future but I will also have to add a 6 point roll cage because a supercharged version of the LS3 should be a low to mid 10 second car. My current LS3 with 3:15's and the Vigalanti 2800 stall runs consistant 11.4's with only bolt on's. I'm also running 345 BFG drag radials which helps me hook up. Good luck!!! Your a very lucky guy to have a wife that understands what speed is all about....I live in Florida does your wife have a sister you can hook me up with?
Yes, the Maggie for the LS3 is out and production is already underway. Callaway is catching up with their backlog.
I got to test drive the Callaway M6 Supercharged Test & Development car this weekend. HOLY SMOKES... what a fun drive
I had driven their 2007 560HP T&D car as well last year and I must say that the 2008 feels so much stronger. Obviously the result of the combination of the LS3 and the MP122. This is a winning combination.
