Is there anything wrong with getting a cam and no heads? I want that extra power of the cam but I am not willing to spend all the money for those heads out there...so is it stupid to put just a cam in my C6. I have kooks headers with corsa sports...just looking for that sound and performance of a cam.
Also, how much would a cam with installation cost? And for a daily driver, and 24,000 miles at the moment, averaging about 10, 000 miles a year, what kind of a cam would I be looking for?

Thanks!
Cam should be ok without heads. However you may want to replace your springs and valves. Defintely make sure you get a tune
it depends on the duration and lift if you have to change springs....if its only 5-10 degrees in duration more and 10 thousandths lift more then it should be fine.....just will need a readjustment of your valve lash and a tune..
And how much did you spend for everything...(cam, accessories, installation)?
And did it void your GM warranty. I have all bolt-ons at the moment and I have full warranty...im pretty sure I would have to sacrifice my warranty for a cam. correct?

It will void your engine warranty for sure. May also void your transmission, drivetrain warranty as well. Since they could always claim that caused the damage. if a window motor fails you should be good though
Basically if your mods could have caused the damage to something, legally they don't have to cover it. However if it could not have caused the damage, they must still cover the warranty item.
Yes you can install a cam without doing heads, unless its a really wild cam. Yes you do HAVE TO change out your springs with whichever cam you choose. Depending on your area, you can do a cam swap for maybe 1500-1800 with parts and labor.
Valve springs are the weak link. Up grade the CAM, and you should do springs to be safe. COMPCAM’s Beehive Springs are better than OEM but not quite up to par. Run an upgraded CAM with OEM Springs and you’ll float the valves. Get HD Dual Springs & Retainers.
Cam’s retail for about $350-400. Install ? Plus $500 or so for springs & retainers.
The dilemma you face is that for an extra $1500 in parts (P&P Heads), you’ll see 20-40 more RWHP over the CAM only install.
Can you do it w/o heads? Absolutely. But it is not wise from a $ to HP point of view. No more labor just $1500 for heads.
