Callaway doesn't plan to add smooth couplers as part of the Honker kits. The couplers will be available from all Callaway dealers, like Atomic Autosports. None of them will have these in stock yet, but they can get them from us. I'll add the smooth coupler part numbers to the website later today.

We don't plan to add the smooth couplers to the kits because, as mentioned earlier, when we conducted flowbench and dyno testing, we didn't record any difference in airflow, or consequent horsepower or torque. (This applies to the Honker design only. We didn't test smooth vs non-smooth couplers in other systems.) We don't want to increase the price of these systems, and we like the vibration isolation provided by the OEM coupler. I think that most customers would not consider the cosmetic change to be worth the additional cost. But now, if anyone wants to replace the OEM part with the smooth coupler, we have the parts available. Again, please remember that additional horsepower or torque shouldn't be expected.

Some vendors don't realize that you don't need to bash others and/or spend time trying to thump your chest on a forum about who came out with an item first. In fact, if those chest thumping, bashing vendors took the time to think about it, they would realize that such posts drive away potential customers.

Having purchased several items made by non-bashing vendors as, in this example, Callaway, I have received a quality item at a fair price and have been happy with the part and its performance. Hence the reason I will continue to deal with Callaway and other class acts like Callaway.

As for the bashers and chest thumpers, don't go away mad. Just go away.

I've had the Honker on my 05 H/C car and the Vararam on my 08

I think he Honker looks better, fit and finsih is better, and will Dyno higher than the Vararam. I think callway delivers exactly what they claim. I saw 12Hp on my 05 when I swapped it...

With that said, I think the Vararam is a little stronger at the track and on the highway at speed. I'm a performance guy, so I like the Vararam slightly better. I went from 12.4 at 115.8 to 11.7 at 121... with just an intake swap

The results from members should tell you anything you need to know... If you want an all around solid, oem looking, dyno proven intake with solid results, go Callaway! If you want all out max performance with little regards to fit/finish/appearance go Vararam!

Any news on these couplers and pricing? Over a month has gone by, and I have not seen any updates on the website?

Sorry, but Callaway will not be producing the smooth coupler. The part number was actually on the website for about a month. I had to remove it a few weeks ago and refund a number of credit card orders.

I apologize for any inconvenience and suggest that you contact boostcontroller.com and describe the diameters and length of the coupler you need.

A Vette Air is not really a viable combination with the Honker because they are each operating in a different plenum space. The Honker draws it's air from the shared space with the radiator, the Vette Air provides an increase of air to the area where the original air intake was. Using the Vette Air with a radiator breather type of air intake (Honker, Lingenfelter, Hurricane, Vortex) will reduce the air available for this type of intake. Use the Vette Air with the Killer Bee or K&N.
