FWIW, my 2000 Camaro SS has a 383 storker LS6 in it w/490+rwhp. I've had a Cartek, Excedy single and now an LS7 with Fidanza LW FW in it.
The LS7 is by FAR the best daily driver clutch w/o question IMHO.
Done several 1.7 60ft. (i suck @ drag racing) launches with it at the track on Nitto DR's and then driven it home. I highly suggest this setup for a mainly DD car.
I had a Cartek in my GTO that I just took out after 18K and 18month of abuse. I drag raced it, road raced it, autoxed, and street drove it. 1.5 60's with ~650rwtq, lasted well over 200 passes. Little bit of chatter but well worth the holding power.
does anyone know anything about the LS9 clutch, would it work in an LS2 since it's a twin-plate 260mm clutch instead of the Z06 290mm single plate? has anyone tried it?

However, I wonder what the specs on the ZR-1 clutch is (ANYONE?). I have 420rwhp and 400rwtq with 4.10's. Love the stock clutch and hasn't failed yet at 26+ k..
I am also interested in this thread. I would really like to know the specs on the ZR-1, clutch peddle feel ETC..

FWIW, I just went through this process for my dedicated track car.
Unless there is a specific problem that you are trying to solve because of an extremely high horsepower motor, the decision I came to was to go with the LS7 clutch with a Findanza aluminum flywheel.
It may not be the most "heavy duty" or exotic combination out there, but it is a tried and true combo, good for 500 rwhp, at a reasonable cost.

Based on what I have read here, I'm leaning toward the Fidanza/LS7 clutch combo as a replacement in my C5 Z06. If I go that route, which throwout bearing should I use the LS6 or the LS7, or are they the same?
has anyone just upgraded to the aluminum flywheel? notice a rougher idle? harder to "slip clutch"? do you like it?
what would someone need to upgrade a stock ls2 to the Findanza aluminum flywheel and the c6 z06 clutch disk? just those parts? pilot bearing? throwout bearing? slave cylinder? new shift fork? special tools?
