This is odd. I can not figure out why on my 07 Saturn Aura to get the sensors relearned when I rotated my tires all I had to do was get it in the learn mode then lower the air pressure a bit and the horn sounded. Then go to the next tire and drop it a few pounds, etc, etc. This was the procedure in the owners manual!
So on my 08 Corvette I have to buy a tool!!!
It seems like the magnet method is just getting the sensor to send a signal, so now I'm wondering if just lowering the tire pressure will do the same?
Anyone tried it? No need for me to do it yet.
I had the same doubt like you do. My CTS-V sersors can be triggered by air presure, no tool is needed. So, I tried the same trick on my C6 last weekend, it didn't work!
Yes, the CTS-V, Tahoe and some other GM applications can be triggered by raising and lowering the pressure as prescribed in the Owner's Manual...this doesn't work with the C6 sensors however.
Is the Scrader 21210 tool any good? Does it work for the Vette and is it universal?
I just answered your PM, but I didn't know whether you were asking about sensors or tools. Now I see what you're interested in.
Take a look at this thread in the for-sale section where another member was looking for a tool and I hopefully answer your question about the Schrader 21210:
It is a really great tool and completely universal and upgradeable. I'll PM some links on where you might get one at a good price (i.e., maybe less than $200).
