Just got LG Pro longtubes and Z06 stock catback with NPP option installed. I previously ran the Borla touring/American racing 1 7/8" header combo. Thanks to Spinmonster for pushing me over the edge. I hate ya.
The car is amazingly quiet with the valves closed. The video really does not do it justice. I used Ed's NPP in a box option which is painless and works as advertised. I used the remotes to program it into my homelink so I don't have to carry around the remote either. That is very cool.
With the valves open it is a very very very deep rumble. I also am running cats on the car. Ok enough talking, here is the video.
Oh, by the way this is on a large cammed 403 ci motor, so the word quiet is relative I guess
Open I love the deep, crisp sound that, when you pull up to any stoplight, it sends the do not even try it message to anyone that might pull up next to you.
Can you take a quick ride out to Countyline Today? Sunday runs start at 12:30 and Pete promised to prep the track. Its 5 minutes away. Lets get some video of it going down the track, in the burnout box. How do you think that is going to sound?

Paging Joe G as well
Bad news...it's drifting day at Countyline today. Hmm. Think Pete would let us regulars run anyway??? The drifting is not on the dragway and we could easily do it, safety crew is already there, maybe we could have our own private track rental.
I was set to go to Countyline last night but fell asleep reading to my son... so I've got a pass to go today if Pete would let us run!
I'm also running the Z06 borla touring system with LG headers on a H/C LS2. How does the stock Z06 exhaust compare to the Borla touring? Is it quieter at idle and cruise with the flaps closed? Is it louder than the Borla at idle and WOT with the flaps open?

Curious, other than SPins push, why did you switch from one header/exhaust combo to another? Did you gain much in tq/hp?
The Borla Touring has a very mellow sound. It keeps drone in check, but is more restrictive as a result of that. The piping on it is 2.5". This was fine when I was pushing 400whp +/- because it wasn't costing me much hp. As I began to make more power it has become more and more restrictive. I am also running a 403ci motor now and pushing over 500whp, so the exhaust is costing me more power. I wanted more power, but did NOT want more noise. This accomplished both goals. I now have 3" piping straight through and have the ability to control the noise level of the car.
LG Motorsports made me a deal I could not refuse on the headers. A few months ago a buddy of mine with a 403ci motor swapped headers. He went from LG's to American Racing headers 1 7/8"(what I was running). He picked up 2-3hp peak and lost tq from idle to 5k. Average losses in tq were 14-18lbft of tq from 3500-5000rpms and 20-25 from 2500-3500 rpms. I want to see if I can get back some low end tq. I wouldn't normally because of the cash outlay, but LG traded my old headers and made it worth my while. I will post dyno results when I have them. I just got them installed a couple days ago.

Dougie
WOW - that's quite a bit of torque loss. I see your point. Were they the 1 3/4 LG's? Thanks for the info. Good to know.
