After a search on Muffler removal (05 C6), it seems straight forward and fairly easy. The only question I have is how high must the rear of the car be to get the mufflers off without cutting the axle pipes? I am limited to 10" tall ramps (and maybe some wood planking) for this job. Is that enough?
Your going to have to get the rear higher than that to clear the bend of those pipes comming off. I used a lift on my 05 vert, they twist down quite a bit.
Thanks, I was figuring I would need to have the car roughly as high as the muffler assembly is long - about 36". Is that closer to reality or does the twisting required minimize this dimension???
I just changed to a set of B&B Rte 66's, and used Blitz 7" ramps with a 2x10 plank under them. I just jacked the car up, put the ramps under the tires. You will have to jack the car body up some, (unload the suspension) to get the over axle pipes off/on. The tires never left the ramp surface.
Going by memory here (it was done in June 05) but I think the mufflers had to go down about 2' to give the room necessary to do the job.
Hopefull some one else can jump in here with better info than I can give. Like I said I had a lift and it was a while back
PS once the old system is off the new stuff goes on easy. My system Corsa said to pull the x pipe first. That proved to be good advice.

You dont HAVE to unload the suspension to get the over axle pipes on/off....I did it without doing that, although that may have been easier.
I've removed the stock exhaust from all my friends cars using only ramps. 10" ramps are plenty high. The only thing that gets in the way is the sway bay, which im sure you know you will have to drop. Just unbolt it from one side and swing it down, that will give you all the clearance you need.

I had mine on 3 2X12s (each side) and then lifted the body. I put an old rug down so when I had to do the twisting the tips didn't get scratched up hitting the garage floor. Had no problems.

I'm glad you mentioned that. Do you unbolt just the end of the bar to swing the bar, or do you also unbolt near the center (rubber bushing)?
Nope, you have to unbolt the one with the big rubber bushing as well. Basically you will completely detach the swaybar from one side and just let it hang down to the floor.
Thanks, I just saw a video provided on Ecklers website that is a start to finish how to install a new exhaust system. Everyone that is about to do this change should watch that video.
