Taking my new M6 C6 to the track tomorrow. It will be wearing the stock Z51 treads. Any advice on launching, traction control defeat, etc? I have low expectations to be honest (keeps me from getting disappointed), but I better get some sub 12 second times.
Thanks!
I think you mean sub 13 second times, lol...unless you plan on running 11s
Please do yourself a favor and do NOT go to HRP tomorrow evening. It is their last TnT for 2 weeks and it will be PACKED. You'll be lucky to get more than 2 runs in over 4 hours. Any friday at HRP is awful, but a friday before they shut down TnT is suicide. Sundays are the day to go for HRP.
I'll be heading down to the track in sealy next wednesday if you want to join...VERY VERY few cars there and you can get plenty of runs in.
Cold tire pressure to 24psi in the rear, TC off only (leave AH on, don't worry about doing comp mode), if an auto, put the shifter in "S" and drive around water box, back into water slightly and do a 3-5 second burnout. Stage and footbrake to idle or a little above and then roll into throttle, don't stab...go from 40% to 100% throttle by the first 30-40 ft and that should help avoid too much TM. Good luck.
Oh, btw, if it's a manual tranny, check out Ranger's launch techniques for good launches with a M6
Well against the advice I made the trek to HRP on Friday night. I only got two runs in. First run was a 12.6 @ 117 and second run was 12.6 @ 116. I didn’t adjust the tire pressure or remove anything. Just turned the TC off and left on the third orange light.
Both times I cut a .48 RT. I was very please with my RT since the last time I was at the track was over 5 years ago. Car is bone stock other than a Vararam and a MGW shifter. The ET didn’t blow my socks off but the MPH made me smile.

The 60 foot was 2.2, but closer to 2.3. On the second run I hit the rev limiter in 2nd, so maybe that is why my MPH was 1 lower.
Hell I am still trying to figure out how to drive this thing right. Having a lot of fun though and that is what it is all about! Thanks for everyones advice and this site.
What RPM do folks shift at on a stock LS3? Is the stock Tach accurate?
