Does anyone know if any of the GM fobs are interchangeable? Specifically the 2005 Cadillac STS and 2007 Corvette. My wife and I are up to our necks in FOBs. I'd like to program my Corvette FOB as the number 2 in the STS and her STS FOB as the number 2 in the Corvette. 1 FOB fits both cars for each of us would be nice.
Do these fobs use the same frequencies and rolling / codes?? Anyone know before I spend half a day programming and reprogramming cars and fobs??
I do know there are different Caddy fobs that can work in the vette but I'm not sure which one try checking the PN on the back I think on 1 of them they match. Although if you already have it programmed as #1 in the vette I dont think you can program it as #2 in the STS. You would probably loose the Vette code. I don't think it can take more than 1 code but I could be wrong.

Both the 2005 Cadillac STS and 2007 Chevrolet Corvette fobs have the same FCC ID: M3N65981403 and utilize the same frequency: 315 MHz.
So where do you find this info? I have an '08 STS and an '08 C6. The fob for the Caddy has an additional button for remote start that isn't an option on my 2LT optioned Vette, but I really don't care about that either. What's the chance of one fob for both cars?

There is nothing on either the Caddy or Vette fobs other than the emblem and the number 1 or 2 stamped on the bottom.
I'll probably go to the Caddy dealer to sort it all out. The salesman there owes us a favor, because we had to return twice in the first 1000 miles for tire problems.

By federal law there has to be an FCC number on the fob ... it is engraved on the back of the Vette fob (and same with the Caddy, I would guess). Its black on black (no stick, just engraved in the plastic) so it may be hard to see.

OK, I found it. I had to remove the key and its on the end. The numbers have changed, so be aware.
The FCC ID is M3N5WY7777A on both fobs, but the C6 is marked GM/S25854929 and the STS is GM/S25854936.

If I remember correctly:
I believe the fobs never receive any individualized programming data from the car, so they don't "know" which car they belong to... they just transmit their coded frequency. It is the car itself that keeps track of which fobs are authorized users of the car's systems (by keeping an electronic list of authorized fob ID numbers in the car's system, which are internal electronic multi-digit numbers, not any number embossed on the back of the fob case). And of course, the cars themselves do not have any way of sharing fob info, so theoretically, you could have ALL your compatible cars using the same fob.
BUT... that sharing ability cuts both ways -- If you have a single fob matched to two cars, they will BOTH unlock/lock when you hit the button if both cars are in range.
