Default question about 08 stock intake

I did the 1st oil change yesterday and was looking around the engine compartment. It looks like the intake/filter just rests on the shroud. Is there a opening where cold air is being sucked in? i felt around and did not feel any opening...

THanks.

There is no opening. You can use Vette-Air to get cold air to the filter face. http://www.theair-charger.com/

Do a search on CAI and vette-air..Lots of reading

No there isnt but you can prop open the shroud with a couple bolts. The filter will stay cleaner if you keep it the way it is, but the IATs will also be higher. The trade off is up to you!

You have Z51, right? On the '08 Z51 option you cannot use the "free air propped shroud mod" since the oil lines are attached to the shroud, thereby preventing spreading it open. You need to get a true closed air system like a Vararam, Honker or Xcelerator. Or like said above, a Vette-Air snorkel, though that lets lots of dirt into your engine compartment.
