I am new to the forum and also a new corvette owner; 08', Z51. 250 mi.
I get the check oil level message on an irregular basis, does not come up everytime I start it. Dealer checked level, looked for leaks and claim they found a ground wire loose. Message came back after one day.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
possibly a defective oil sender unit. When you get the dic error can
you read the indicator is it over 20PSI. You must determine if the
cel is bogus or if you have an actual low oil pressure condition. If
you can observe whats happening it will make it that much easier for the garage to diagnose and service.

Defective oil level sender not oil pressure switch. The OP didn't indicate a pressure problem.
I don't think the Vette has an oil level indicator sensor. If it does, that is news to me. Otherwise, the only way the car would know it is too low on oil is loss of oil pressure due to too low a level. Hence why that item could be triggering a "check oil level" indication.

It has an oil level sensor, it's in the oil pan below the starter. This one's probably bad. When you get a little over a qt low it triggers the message, when working correctly.
It's got a snap connector, I highly doubt it was loose. Loose wire is just an excuse for (and way to scam a warranty claim) - they did a quick look and didn't see anything wrong. Tell them thanks for the second trip, at the very least those SOBs owe you a free oil change for the hassle.

Thanks
Believe it or not, the car was one qt. low from the factory when I checked it the first time I saw the msg. The dealer claims they can check the sending unit and it is good, but I can't see it being anything else since I still get the msg about every fourth start up.

I got this message last night on my car, first time ever since I got it new in '05. I drove to a friends house about 5 mins away, no problem. About an hour later I got back in the car, started it, and peeled out of there at my friends request. 2 seconds later I get that message. It was late so I got home and didnt check the oil level, but im wondering if it was the hard start? We'll see.
