My 2006 C6 makes a a sewing machine ticking noise. Its starting to become more noticable. It only have 6700miles. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get of rid it.

Does it speed up when you accelerate? I would take it back to the dealer and ask them to check it out.

I have taken it to the dealer and they said it wasn't unusal. They said it was just a load injector.

Had that noise from day 1. I think its just the way they are. Was amplified after header install.

Agree with responses above. However, it's hard to give an answer without hearing it. I would advise you to find another C6 and have a listen, in order to compare with yours. However, the injectors and the valvetrain conspire together to make the 'sewing machine' noise you're hearing, although it shouldn't be excessively noisy (mine is barely audible, but I do hear it if accelerating with the windows down under light throttle).

Cheers,
Ian.

I have had 3 LSx engines and they all made that noise. I think it is just a normal byproduct of the engine. I have noticed less of it with my 06 then the 01 and 03 I formally owned.

Default sweet noise

This is the sound of a roller valve train push rod V-8 LS engine.
With headers the sound is more apparent. All is normal. For peace of mind remove valve covers and look for broken rocker arm trunion cap.
Usually associated with Z06 motors on the offset intake rocker.
However with my first LS vet I thought it was a little noisy but all was normal.

Someone just posted that they also had a lot of "ticking" and when they checked their spark plugs, found some that were loose. He tightened them and the ticking disappeared.

I think the sound is normal. I got the same sound after installing aftermarket valve springs in my LS1 Trans Am. The C6's have heavier springs in them similar to the LS6 motors. GM had to put them in because of increased redline limits so that you won't get any valve float above 6k to 6.5k.

Its valve clatter. Change to haudraulic roller lifters. Most like the noise.

I mentioned a recent post that my (more noticeable than most) Ticking sound (most noticeable around 2K rpms in-car) was due to the stock exhaust manifold bolts a bit loose (about 1/2 turn needed to get to 15FT/lb spec) - 2005 C6 with only appx 8K miles.
I know some noise (injectors/VT/etc.) is normal but mine IMHO was worse that usual - the above made a BIG difference in the in-car noise I'd been hearing...
