I don't think its that. Sitting still, it says .11 g's. While moving, it goes up in a normal manner and goes down as far as zero is gentle curves. But on flat, level ground while not moving, it reads .11 g's.
My concern is the active handling system uses the lateral g's as part of its correction calculation of yaw rate so if the g measurement is wrong, the active handling system won't make the correct correction.
The big GM service manual simply says to check the sensor voltage and if out of spec, replace it. I tried disconnecting the battery in a blind attempt to reset, but it did not work. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.
Someone had a similar problem several months ago - sorry, but I don't remember who or what the solution was. Hopefully they'll see this thread and chime in.
Active handling doesn't use the g-meter. It uses a combination of sensors like yaw sensors, steering wheel position sensors, wheel speed sensors, wheel directional sensors, etc to make the decision of what to do.
I would just reset the g-meter and see what happens.
Where is the sensor located? I'm hoping the HUD is picking up the information from a sensor mounted remotely. Would hate to have to replace the HUD (pull the whoile dash apart).

Actually, it does use the g-meter sensor according to the technical description. The sensor is located behind the HVAC Controls. It's delivers the yaw rate and lateral acceleration as analog voltage. If you have a voltmeter, check the reference voltage (5V), ground and the sensor output which should be 2.5V (2.3-2.7V) when the vehicle is not moving. Or a check with the Tech2 if possible. The sensor itself could be faulty or it's a connection issue at the connector.
The fault is not within the HUD, it just displays the value from the EBCM where the senor is connected to.
Just got back from our road trip. Z06 ran great, got great gas mileage coming back (29.1 -I think the wind helped), and g-meter corrected itself. Had a great time and trip.
