From: NJ..."the way I saw it, everyone takes a beating sometimes."
Without a tune to optimize timing, A/F, etc. the higher octane will do nothing for performance, assuming your car is running correctly. In all actuallity it may hinder your performance.
Drag strip. Temps are around 45-50* F. DA is at 86 feet.
I'm not sure if I'm knocking or not. I usually run 93 octane. I'm just wondering if it would help.
Using higher octane than the engine requires does nothing for you but lighten your wallet which may cut your E.T. a little if you drive with your wallet in the car. The improvement will be several places past the least significant digit on your time slip unless you get change when you buy the gas. In that case you may slower if your change has more mass then the original payment
Until you reach the operating conditions, which for whatever reason, your car starts pulling timing the slower burn rate does you no good. Unless you car has some internal or electrical problem you will just be wasting money especially at the ambient temperature you stated.
