I'm getting ready to pull the triger on a set of coated kooks from marylandspeed. I don't want this to turn into another header war thread, just wanted to know if you are happy with the fitment, and quality of them. I'm planing to do the install myself and don't want to run into a bunc of problems. Thanks!
Hardest part is taking off the stock stuff. I ran into some slight fitment issues with the Kooks X-pipe(if would rattle against a hydraulic line under the car). I ended up having MTI Racing adjust it because I was tired of being under the car and they were going to tune it anyways. The headers themselves fit like a glove.
I have a lift, which definitley made it easier, but it was the easiet and cleanest install I've ever done. Torqueing the header bolts was the hardest part, as it is tough to get a socket on some of them. Also, dont forget to retorque them after a few warmup cycles, they will get loose.
I love them. The install couldn't have been easier since I wasn't the one who installed them. Two club members did the install and they were great. Thanks again, Martin and Scott!
From: Greater Detroit Metro MI, when I'm not travelling.
For me it was an easy 5 hour install (my first big project ever on a Corvette) with ZERO fitment issues.
Car made 364whp post headers, intake and catback, then 395whp the same day after a tune.
I did a write up on the install. I invite you to check it out here:
