Looking for help?
good evening,
I am a new member to the forum although I have been reading posts for years.
I have an 05 AT with a 2.73 gear as you can imagine it is a dog off the line. I have installed Corsa (sport) and blackwing air intake.
I am looking to upgrade the gear and my question is two fold
1. What gear is recommended?
2. I live in Athens GA and I am looking for an installer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I read that a Torque Convertor is a better change to get an automatic off the line better. Since I haven't got an auto, I can't profess first hand knowledge.

I believe that a 3.15 was the factory "performance axle" ratio for your car, and it would be a good choice. 3.42 will lead to excessive RPMs on the freeway, imo. For an installer consider MTI Racing in Marietta, or Vengeance Racing in Cumming. Why not go visit both, find out which you are more comfortable with, and ask their advice?

Definitely call Ron at Vengeance Racing. He is very helpful and can advise you how to meet your goals for your car. Vengeance is also very reasonable in their pricing.

He should have an A4 in his car. The 3.42 would be a better bet with that transmission. My non expert opinion.

MTI and Vengenance (HELP)
Going to go with a swap out of the 2.73 to the 3.42 now just a matter of where to go.
Vengenance- Out of business?
MTI- $3000.00
ZIP- $2500.00
Is there a difference in a rearend from MTI and ZIP?
In additon will a predator re-program suffice with the gear swap?
Thank you!

Are MTI and Zip going to swap the rearend or just the gears? From the prices, I'm guessing they're going to change the entire rear-end.
If you can find someone to change the gears, you will come out MUCH cheaper.

Gear Swap
ZIP is replacing the entire diff.
I am looking for someone to do either the diff or a gear change in Athens GA and having no luck. unfortunatly I am all thumbs when it comes to anything other than minor work.
I am frustrated with the 2.73 and need to replace.

Vengeance and MTI are both reasonably close to you and both will do an excellent job.
You can have the gears replaced without replacing the diff, but that's NOT a DIY project.

Vengeance
I spoke with them yesterday and seem to be very accomadating and patient!
I am having them put in a 3.42 plus a tune.

Anxiety
Spoke with Ron yesterday and my 3.42 will not be in until Friday which means no install until next week. Any thoughts on what I can do to pass the time!

Start looking for some new tires.
