Default Trying to make 500rwhp

Here is what I am trying to do, I want to make 500rwhp on my LS3, but without forced induction. This is what I am thinking . headers full exhaust , intake, cam and tuning. The shop where the work will be done is suggesting heads as well, I thought LS3 heads were pretty good, but if I need different heads to reach my number I will get them, please tell what you think. Thanks for the help.

Go to LG Motorsports. I have an LS3 with 510 HP and nothing has been done to the heads.

Why are you trying to make 500HP?

Depending on your intended use of it, you might want to consider different configurations to get there. The LS3 heads flow very well, you could hit your number without changing them easily. But are you looking for daily driver driviability? Are you 1/4 mile tracking? Road Coursing? Or dyno queen/weekend street terror?

FI will give you better all around manners with stealth but killer power, H/C or just Cam will let everyone know you're coming but if may leave you less than happy if the car gets used daily for commuting, etc.

Give us some more info, and we'll make some definitive directions. If it were me and your car is stock now, Id get a Paxton and a REALLY good set of tires, which is something you are going to need to anyway. 500hp isn't worth anything if all you do is spin....spinning aint winning!

Lets start with bone stock ls3. Does 370 HP sound about right ? If so
you are looking for about 130 RWHP more. With LG LT's ive seen ls3's
with a tune & cai make about 420 RWHP. The heads are great. That
leavs about 80 HP needed from Porting the l76, ud pulley & cam setup.
I know lg did it and I think a few ls2's did it having to go to etp afr heads & Fast intake ported.

Well I was all set on getting a kit from ECS, and then a few people told me that if I ever wanted to road course it, it would over heat due to the intercooler, also fI is harder on the motor. Plus the $ differance, I may never road course it, mostly street and sometimes at the strip and also I heard that the front facia has to be cut and my oil cooler will have to move or go by by ( Z51 car ), with F I. I don't really want to cut on a brand new car, tough choice, I am reading that 550 rwhp is not hard to get with F I, and yes I would have to get stickier tires. MMMM choices. thanks for the input guys.

What he said.

I wouldnt bypass FI for the power level you want. The manners will be 100% stock and a cam that will make 500rwhp isnt going to be. You may like the chop but just in case, arm yourself with a ride in both set-ups in actual cars.

Cartek and ECS did it too. It may be the norm for the LS3.

Heads make little difference on the 6.2 liter. When stroked the porting shows 20rwhp.
