Default Oil in intake manifold

I installed a throttle body spacer today and noticed on the rear of the flap on the throttle body there was oil dripping. Stuck my fingers a few inches into the intake manifold and it was wet with oil. Now my question is, is this normal?

The car is a 08' with 980 miles brand new is this normal?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Don't know how much you found, but barring any other problem, it is common for some oil to collect inside the throttle body and intake.

Fix: add an oil catch can.

Do a site search for existing discussions on "oil catch can"

It won't totally eliminate it, but it will help.

I would contact Cartek Racing for an awesome catch can solution that they've developed for the C6s (and C5s too of course).

The catch can is the approximately 80% solution. Get one soon!

I had a catch can on my Y2K and would get about 3 TBSP's of oil or so in it every oil change. I'm not sure how the LS3's are.

I have a related question. I'm fairly new to the LS3 but knew the LS1 inside and out (fortunately and unfortunately). Is the snap on fitting with the plastic line/hose in the intake accordian the PCV connection point? The reason I ask is that I haven't pulled the FRC's to start snooping around to determine whats connected to what.

TIA,

Default Hey nice pic looks like a good setup.

That looks really neat. What we did was pluged the inlets to the TB
and ran two vent lines that go down to the bottom of the car. Very inexpensive but works. I should post some pics since many want to see my FAST manifold anyway.

I agree. I've had countless LS engines and not one single catch can. It's called a sealed pcv system that recircs crankcase vapors (which contain oil vapors) up to the intake. Millions of cars on the road do the exact same thing.

Contrary to some beliefs an engine, isn't fully broken in for several thousand miles. Blowby will be a little increased on a new engine. Once broken in, oil usage will decrease. As they say out east - fuggetaboutit. Drive, enjoy...

There should never be more than a mouthful of oil between oil changes.
Dont like the idea of oil vapor going into the intake. Either a catch can
or vent to atmosphere. Ever hear of "Michrider & the detroit Wheels" /

I agree that it is most likely normal ..........BUT, however, where does that oil go? If a "mouthful" (??????) of oil is normal with every oil change ... uhm let us see. I drive 15,000 miles a year and that is 1.5 oil changes. OK now I have 1.5 mouthsful of oil that went where? Inquiring minds want to know. The experts here just gotta step up and tell us.
