Try the M/T's since you need tires anyway. You won't be sorry. Oh and IMHO in 1/8 mile, weather doesn't affect as much as it does in the 1/4. The launch really counts.
Their website said they make two different types, the standard and the newer type which fits cars like our Vettes. However, the newer type is the 315 vs the 275. So I take it the original should fit fine?

I'm seeing less than 1 mph in the mph with 20 degree differences and 1000+ DA differences. So you're right about that. Hell, in California, my best run prior to my intake mods took place on a warm day at 2500' DA...I just got lucky and had a really nice launch on street tires. I noticed the other day at the track, the street car types running mid 7's all had MT's and those that I talked to, all recomended them over anything else as well. Driver skill aside, I didn't see anyone with BFG's or Nitto's cutting the 60-fts of the MT drag radials.

I have seen C6's with Nittos cut good 1.6's my low powered combo cuts 1.70's with Bfgs and Dennis cut a 1.48 with BFG's

What are C6's with MT's getting?

Sure, I hear that as well but not at this podunk track. Maybe with the pro's running, leaving all their rubber and good prep but with how they prep the track with street cars running over and over, the better tires hook better it seems. Guys with slicks hitting 1.5-1.6's on these days. Should be getting 1.3/.4 I think. I hit a 1.80 60-ft on my BFG's the other day but missed a shift so 1.7's are absolutely possible on these tires. I think stepping up to MT's will be needed for 1.6's and my driving ability or inability as it is....if it's true what folks are saying. I'm annoying at the track as well, I go around and ask folks a lot of questions...60-fts, pressures, rpm launch, etc. There are never any other new Vettes though so I'm left with many stangs, LS1/LT1 cars, GTO's, etc. I have yet to find one person in a manual to go under a 2.0 on street tires at that track. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened obviously but I do my research when I'm there. Makes me feel better in that I'm not always the worst one there

Track prep does play a part but you cannot compare solid axel cars to the C6 everything is differnt, I would read what works for C6's and try it.

Multipe people say 24psi works well my 60's did not get better when I went lower.

You're right, different cars, different rear ends. My best 60fts have now come with 14psi in my BFG's. I kept hearing 22-24psi as well but I think it depends on conditions. I'd take an auto with converter for drag racing for low 60-fts and consistency.

I was closer it was 1.478 LOL

I knew it was 1.478 or 1.479 but did not remember for sure so I went with the safe 1.48 since I knew it rounded to 1.48

Default Please dumb it down for me!!!!

I think I want to go with the MT ET Streets.... I don't want any rubbing or tires sticking out...... What width wheel would I need for 18"? Would 265/40-18's rub? 315/30-15's??? Thanks all!

Well, please be careful with that wording now.
M/T ET Streets are a bias ply DOT legal slick tire...M/T ET Street Drag Radials or simply M/T Drag Radials are the drag radial of course.
And you wrote 315/30-15, I think you meant to put 18?
Speaking of the (bias ply) ET Streets, they are available in a 17" size and will provide some benefits over drag radials to a Corvette racer in certain applications.

My suggestion for a good fitting set up (other than buying SoldSyclone's awesome value wheel/tire package) would be a set of OEM front C6 rims (18x8.5) widened to 18x10.5 with a set of 305-35-18 M/T drag radials on them.
Not a cheap set up by any means but one that WILL fit and hook well.

I run MT 275/40/17 on c5 zo6 rims. I like this set up because the 17 inch tires are much cheaper $180 pc. These tires hook up very well and prices just right

I like them for the same reason, plus they are a little shorter so you get a gearing advantage. I use C5 from wheels, an inch narrower and they don't stick out at all.

If you want an 18 then:
P265/40R18 will work on a stock front wheel
P305/35R18 18x9.5 replica wheel min better on a stock front widened to 10.5 best setup but your looking at $1,400

P275/40R17 will work on a 17x8.5-10 (MT's old style)
P295/45R17 will work on a 17x9.5-11

Does anyone know if you can get the 305/18 yet?

Summit says they will ship:
305/18 5/1/08
265/18 today
275/17 today
295/17 6/1/08

Should I be good with a set of rear c5 Z06 wheels then? They are already 18x10.5. It would be much cheaper and easier than widening the C5 18x8.5 wheels! Then I can still run with 305-35-18's???

The C5z 18" wheels stick out about an inch - I'd be afraid of rubbing on a hard launch. I know a guy who uses them for road coursing and he doesn't have an problems but I'd be leary of a hard launch causing rubbing.

NO they wont work you can do stockers or the right offset 18x9.5 replicas or custom

If you want an 18 then:
P265/40R18 will work on a stock front wheel ~$1,000
P305/35R18 18x9.5 replica wheel min better on a stock front widened to 10.5 best setup but your looking at ~$1,400

The 18" MT tires you will have to wait on my tire guy said they had a problem with the first batch coming apart.

or 295 35 18 BFG's on replicas ~$1,000

or you could buy mine mounted balanced and shipped for $800...
when you kill the BFG's buy the 265 MT's 295 BFG's or widen them for 305's
