Hey,
I did my first oil change at 3000 miles.
I was expecting to see metal "dust" on the drain plug. There was none.
I was expecting to have a magnetic drain plug, but mine is not magnetic.
Anybody else have a non magnetic drain plug?
2008 c6.
asked same question a couple weeks ago & verified answers with my local dealers. Can't buy them thru Chevrolet. The last posted p/n (for the magnetic) has been superceded 3 times with the latest being verified as a "plain" plug. Advance sells one they say will fit but it is approx a quarter-inch longer, anybody know if that will present any problem?
I heard that the magnets were coming loose and GM stopped making them. I replace mine with the original when I heard this.

I just did my first change and the drain plug was as clean as when it was installed. It's a good thing I put a filtermag on it before I drove it off the dealer lot.
Lowe's sells a pack of ceramic bar magnets for about $4 that are about 3 inches long. I have used them all of my cars for many years by just sticking them to the outside of the oil filter. They hang on just fine and have much more magnetic force and a bigger magnetized area to catch more of the bad stuff. I use a Fumoto valve (instead of the oil plug) for quick oil changes. Cheap & effective.
