Is anyone running long tubes with stock exhaust? I was wondering if it would give you the additional power and more aggressive sound without the really loud cabin noise that a cat back gives you.
Absolutely. It's louder, mostly when you're flat out but quiet when you want. It's very sneaky. My car puts down 500 at the wheels and you can barely hear it when you're just cruising. Can definitely feel the lope. I may scoop up an exhaust eventually just to see if I can get to 515 with a stock bottom end LS2

I ran my own car with stock mufflers on it for a number of miles until Borla released the larger 3" system from the Z06's.
Personally I see no problem with keeping the stock mufflers on the car, as it is not that big of a loss in power and it keeps the car very civil on the highways for long trips.
If louder is what you want there are a number of different muffler kits on the market today that can give you any number of different styles of sound.
I'm currently running the Melrose "Smooth Flow" setup(headers, cats, and x-pipe) with the stock muffs also. I agree with others it's great for the hwy(no drone)with my A6 but I'm longing for something just a tiny bit more aggressive for back roads and around town. To me I'd like to see something similar to the npp but a little more aggressive when closed even more so open and have nicer tips and cans also.
B&B makes a bi-mode(Fusion) but from what I gather it's pretty loud even closed leading to some drone/resonance...especially with the A6.
If your not running a cam then another nice thing about pairing the stock muffs with headers is the "stealth" aspect. But since I run a cam with a little lope even with the stockers most everyone notices somethings up right off the bat.
I had B&B bullets on the car but when I had LG Long Tubes with cats installed I went back to a stock exhaust. Its a little too quite but much better than the drone with the bullets... I hope to have NPP's in the near future
These are the responses I was hoping for. I want to keep the stealth and quiet sound of the stock mufflers. My last car was a 03 cobra with 302 strocker larger supercharger and the everything between. Car was Waaay too loud for a daily driver IMO. Vettes are worse because it is a Hatch.

That is what I was thinking. Exhaust MAYBE give you 5 horses. Who cares IMO. If it was not a daily driver this topic wouldnt even be up for discussion. lol But it is. I am on the phone a lot for business too. I have to be able to hear.
I am not doubting you but no cats and it is quiet????? What is quiet to you. lol jk
I'm not Stage but for what it's worth with my hi-flow cats I can still hear the Blose stereo hissing like an angry python while doing 65-80mph on the freeway.

lol. That is high-flow. He said No Cats at all. That to me means off-road pipe. That has to be louder. On my cobra it was NUTTS loud with the off-road.
