Default 2006 Differential Failure

How many have had their 2006 or newer case to crack?

I had the differential replaced on my 07 C6 Z51. During an investigation of rear end noise (clutch pack) the dealer informed me of casting flaws (?) that prompted them to replace the entire rear end.

I know the 05's diff cases are very weak. Wish someone (DTE?) would design a case reinforcement brace that goes around the differential to hold things together and strengthen the case.

That what I was thinking too. Can't they just make an iron mold that will encase the entire differential or something? I need a solution, I am living in fear.

DTE has the '05 differential brace at a sale price of $339 currently. Check their Forum Vendor web site. The pull down list on the left of this page, under Tuners. Or web search them.

I had the brace on my car. This brace protects the transmission when the differential case breaks. I'll be sending my cracked case to DTE to determine what happened and a reccomended fix.

DTE's current brace really does nothing to prevent a case failure. The cases break when the ring gear is pushed outward from the pinion gear under hard useage. Can't see why an external brace that puts pressure from the outside case surfaces can't be engineered to prevent the case from moving. If they could combine this with the current brace, I think they'd really have a product that everyone would want. HELLO DTE.......
