Is This Normal?
I replaced my factory navigation with a factory 6 disk radio that worked when I installed it, but about the time I finished with the install it locked. Is that normal ? I would think that if it worked at first , that would mean the previous owner cleared the radio. if the dealer Tech 2's
it, would it be a permanent fix. Can the theft deterent be shut off so it doesn't happen again?

You need to get it programmed, and no you can't shut it off. The vin of the car needs to be programmed into the radio.
Radio Setup
To setup a new radio for the vehicle, complete the Module Setup procedure under the Special Functions menu of the scan tool.
Cycle ignition when complete.

Bastages charge be $60 when I need them to use the tech2.
Anyways, the radios will work untill you actually start the car (i.e. you can play it all you want in accessory mode). That is when it goes into theftlock mode. No big deal.
