I have a 2007 C6, automatic, no accidents, with 13,000 miles on it. I got this car new from a dealer and it is under warranty. My breaks started squeaking 6 months into my purchase. They start squeaking after few minutes of driving and only squeak if I press the breaks softly, if I have to break a little harder they do not squeak at all. I have been to the dealer 5 times. First they just cleaned my breaks, next they resurfaced the rotors, and few weeks ago they changed my pads but that still did not help.
I will be going back to the dealer soon but I have no idea what they can do at this point and it’s been a pain going to the dealer and wasting a whole day there.

What can it be and what can I do??? Less than $150/ set.
Thanks,

I highly recommend ceramic pads! I had the same problem... After I ordered a set of drilled/ slotted rotor, I also added a set of ceramic pads.... No more squeaking/ squealing!
lots of folks with the stock semi-mettalic brakes have the noise problem. i went to the GM ceramics from Gene Culley, and while i still occasionally get some noise, it is mostly gone, and a side benefit is reduced dust. of course if you are going to track your car you probably dont want to use the ceramics.
Thank you all! It looks like I will either get ceramics or just live with the noise (probably stick with current pads since I take my car to the track sometimes). At least I will not waist my time going to the dealer anymore. Very disappointed though :-(
Brake squeal seems to be an on-and-off problem with different model years. One solution that may work for you is to apply a VERY thin coat of high heat moly grease to the back sides of the pads.....
