I recently had Kooks 1 3/4" headers, X-pipe, and a tune installed on my 07 C6 A6. I absolutely love the performance gains and the new sound! My question though, is that the fan seems to be running much faster than before when the car is at idle. Is this "normal"? If so, is there anything that can be done to calm it back down?
Since it's gotten pretty warm in Houston, your tuner probably thought you would need the additional cooling? How have your engine temps been?
Talk to your tuner and go from there...
If your tuner went beyond 25% in the 192* cell, the fan will run at full speed all the time even after it drops below 192*. Don't ask why, just ask him to lower the 192* back down to something like 20%.
Here's a test..., after reaching operating temp, if you see the temp drop below 190* and the fan is still at high speed, it's your tune, and easily fixed.
Also, keep in mind your fan SHOULD run faster (and more often) while at idle because it's the only thing moving air across the radiator. Once you start to move you get maximum cooling without the fans help. But the fan should slow down regardless if the temp's below 192*.
