Default Is This Right?

ok, i am getting ported FAST and ported TB installed. the tuner said he will charge me $300 to tune my car. so far so good.
i told him i just had headers installed, he said in order to tune it FOR THAT, he will charge me an extra $250?????
does this make any sence?

No.
I can see it being extra but not that much extra. If he's tuning for the intake change already it's only so much more time/effort to make any changes for the headers, much of those changes/adjustments/alterations are the same actually, it is more work but not twice the amount.

But on the other hand, a full dyno tune normally does cost around $550.00 anyway so the bottom line is still a normal price.

It doesn't make sense the way you are explaining it, however I know the tuner you're referring to and he is absolutely the best, you're lucky to get him. And if you go into his shop bitching and complaining about everything I wouldn't blame him if he told you to take a hike.

I agree that total price is about the norm.

he told me $300 for the tune because i already have my car tuned. $250 extra when i told him i also have headers. $$$ extra to show me where my car is dynoed at when i bring it in.

I don't understand what the headers have to do with anything.

He's going to go in and tune the car, either way. Had you not told him about the headers, the tune would still have worked out the same.

I don't care how good you are as a tuner. Don't try to lie to me about something simple. If you want more money, ask for it up front.

Give him a call and politely ask him to explain how the tune/payment works. If you have any questions, ask him.

Good luck
