Default Funny Electrical Problem - Window Indexing

Greetings - before I run off to the dealer or start the troubleshooting process I wanted to check and see if anyone else has had this problem.

Car - '07 C6 Z51 17,500 Miles

As the story goes....all of a sudden my passenger door window began to 'index' up and down. It will even do this dance with the engine turned off. I can stop this behavior by rolling down the window and leaving it down a bit.

And of course the door won't open from the inside or outside now. I do have the factory service manuals I'm just wondering if anyone else has solved this before I begin.

Could be an electrical short or something wrong with the motor.

I believe others have had success by disconnecting the battery then reconnect and index the windows. Also, you might double check the the connectors between the door and body inside the rubber boot.

I would try the "reboot" first.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the responses. I tried the 'reboot' and thought I had it until it started again. I'm hoping to find and inspect the connector. Indexing while the power is off might make it a bit trickier.

If I find anything interesting I'll post the results.

This should do the trick, almost always the drivers door switch but it can be either one.

Default Thanks Chevtech

It appears that my problem may reappear even if I think it's gone away. Your post is invaluable!

Thanks,
Keith

It can be annoying. One of our club members went out to wash his Z06 and discovered after pouring water over the top that the indexing didn't happen the night before. Whoops...took lot's of towels to mop up the mess.

It took two visits to the dealer to solve this issue(s). First the car was returned with a reprogrammed Body Control Module (BCM). Some reference was made to my Clifford aftermarket alarm system - signal crossover or something. I've had my aftermarket alarm for a year and don't use it and this is a recent problem. But anyway, the reprogramming seems to have worked. However, the passenger door still refused to open. Back to the dealer (he forgot about the door - really - I had written out the problems so they might be easier to recreate) and the door switches were replaced.

Now doors open and windows go up and down right.
