236 is not high, you're fine.

A lot depends on the conditions you're driving-in and how you're driving the car. 236 isn't excessive under most conditions. Coming off a 20+ minute road course session in 94 degree weather I've seen my oil temp in the 260's (all time high of 273). I tried a test for someone the other day (in was overcast and about 70 degrees) and after running a mile at 3500 RPMs my coolant was 187 and my oil temp 214.

The lowest I have seen after the car is fully warmed up is 207... 242 is my high. I always watch it when I first warm up the car and mostly leave the DIC set to it afterwards (that is why I know exact #'s). Wondered the same a while back but it appears you are fine.

236 degrees is fine. These cars respond very well to 160 stats
get a tune or a predator turn your fans on sooner. beat the heat
heat kills.

And that is why I have a 160* thermostat. My oil temp is usually around 208, and if I get on it hard, I see about 214. I just feel better about the lower temps on the oil and engine....and I don't care about the negligible gas mileage I may be losing. In fact I just went on a 320 mile highway trip here in Colorado and the DIC said 35 mpg average.

236F is within the "normal" operating specs for engine oils. However, if your oil gets to 300F, then it's beginning to "cook" the additive package.

Here is a good "rule of thumb," For every 10F over 300F that your oil is subjected to, you cut your oil life in half.

Remember: Compounded oil is created with heat, so it's readily destroyed by heat also.

My 2005 coupe without Z-51 runs about 214 to 216 under normal cruising and will get up to 238 or so when I get on it a little on back country roads going through the twisties especially on the uphill sections. As I understand it, the temps have to get over 300 before there is any need for concern.
