I have a SPEC II. Replaced it with the Centerforce (same used on the Pratt & Miller C6RS)

Anyone want the SPEC II cheap?

I've used both a Spec 3 and a Spec 2+ w/o any problems.

I had a Spec 3+ that the devilray ate up in less than 3K miles without even getting on it hard. I wouldn't buy them again. I have a twin disk RAM now that seems to be much better.

I had a poor experience with SPEC as well. I will not buy their products in the future.

I got 40,000+ miles out of a Spec 2. I just took a Spec 5 out after it started to slip at 6,000 miles. Lots of 5,000 rpm dumps. Replaced it with a Spec 4, which I hope is more DD friendly

FWIW unless your car is just for drag racing you don't want the Spec 5, it is strictly an on-off engagement. The disc being sintered metal will be eaten up if you slip it.

I haven't had any expierience with them on a vette but I have in other cars and I can tell you that all 3 of them that I have seen were garbage. On 1 they gave us a kit with a bad throwout bearing that couldn't push in the pressure plate. The second one's flywheel had the wrong sized holes to match up to the engine. And the third went in fine and worked completely normal except for the fact that you didn't have to push the clutch in to shift you could just move the shifter into the next gear, it wouldn't slip, drag, or grind anything it behaved completely normal except for that. My transmission teacher who has been doing this for 30 years had no idea why it was doing it. Stay away from them.

Yeah it's crazy he decided not to mess with it, it was a good advantage at the drag strip.

I'd never use an aftermarket TOB. You should use an OEM TOB.

If you were able to shift the car without the clutch, that's a problem with the way the clutch is adjusted, if it's cable operated, or with the hydraulic system, if so equipped.

The TOB doesn't have much, if anything, to do with the actual effort required to move teh pressure plate. As I said before, it's either the cable doing it or the hydraulic system.

Or there's a problem with the tranny itself or even possibly the rear. I once had a Powertrax locker come apart in the pumpkin. The car would run and drive 99% of the time, but once in a while I could put it in gear and let the clutch out but the car wouldn't move. The drive shaft would spin, but the diff. was junk.

If the TOB seizes, squeaks, or comes apart, THEN you've got a source for a problem.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say 99% of premature clutch failures I've EVER seen are related to improper installation or adjustment. (A lot of premature tranny failures, as well.)

I've had two SPEC stage III clutches and have had zero issues with either.

Pedal feel is much harder than stock, and it's a lightswitch operation.

It feels like it's either off or on.
