Does anyone have a spec clutch kit installed
FWIW unless your car is just for drag racing you don't want the Spec 5, it is strictly an on-off engagement. The disc being sintered metal will be eaten up if you slip it.

If you were able to shift the car without the clutch, that's a problem with the way the clutch is adjusted, if it's cable operated, or with the hydraulic system, if so equipped.
The TOB doesn't have much, if anything, to do with the actual effort required to move teh pressure plate. As I said before, it's either the cable doing it or the hydraulic system.
Or there's a problem with the tranny itself or even possibly the rear. I once had a Powertrax locker come apart in the pumpkin. The car would run and drive 99% of the time, but once in a while I could put it in gear and let the clutch out but the car wouldn't move. The drive shaft would spin, but the diff. was junk.
If the TOB seizes, squeaks, or comes apart, THEN you've got a source for a problem.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say 99% of premature clutch failures I've EVER seen are related to improper installation or adjustment. (A lot of premature tranny failures, as well.)
I've had two SPEC stage III clutches and have had zero issues with either.
Pedal feel is much harder than stock, and it's a lightswitch operation.
It feels like it's either off or on.
