I purchase 4 Nitto Invo in stock tire size (245/40-18, 285/35-19) and now when driving slow, I hear a thump, thump sound like the tire is not round or out of balance. I had the tires mounted by wheel works who suppose to balance them also. Is there anyway I can find out whether the tires are out of round? I plan to take the car to another tire place to make sure that the wheel and tire are balance however not sure if they can check to see if the tire is out of round or not. Thanks for any help.
Find a local shop with a Hunter Road Force Balancer. It can test for out of round conditions. If you were here in NY, I would do it for you. Click For A Local Hunter Shop
From the Hunter Site:
The GSP9700 incorporates Hunter's exclusive Road Force Measurement® System, which uses a “road roller” to apply up to 1,400 lbs. of pressure against the wheel assembly to test if the assembly is round when rolling. The roller can find problems such as lack of tire uniformity that once could only be detected by industrial tire uniformity graders. With this ability, the GSP9700 can perform the ForceMatching® procedure, which finds the stiff or high area on a tire and the low spot on a rim to be matched together to cancel vibration caused by radial force variation and provide that “new car ride.”
