Default 160 stat and dyno tune

Six months ago I bought an 08 a6 corvette 273 gears npp exaust. For the past year I have been reading threads of the pro and cons of modifying the corvette especially issues with the 160 stat.I was very skeptical about doing any modifications to this car because my mechanic who built a car strictly for drag racing and who I have dealt with for 25 years and have an enormous amount of respect for advised me not fool with the car or any factory settings at all. What did I do?Last month I bought a vararam on sale with a 160 stat and made an appointment with Jeremy Formato to tune the car.I spent four hours with Jeremy and let me tell you this guy has the patience of a saint.Jeremy explained to me that when you tune the car the fans have to be ajusted because the car will start to pull timing when it gets hot,the only reason for the 160 stat is to keep the fans from turning on all the time in traffic when you are doing less than 35 miles an hour.If it does not bother you to hear the fans on all the timeyou dont have to change the stat.He also explained to me that the spacer that is used in the vararam over time will warp and you will end up with a vacuum leak, and that is why I left it out. Finally I would just like to say, having Jeremy formato tune your car is like having Debakey a world class heart surgeon perform by pass surgery on you.Dont get caught up in the horsepower numbers, what the tune will do for you is it will unleash the power that is already there by firming up your shift points ajusting the timing curves eliminating most of the TM and not letting the engine get bogged down at wot, this is a big issue for the ls3.
After driving the car for two days I have not noticed any difference in fuel economy, what I did notice is this car is dialed in and runs like the beast it was intended to be.I hope this will clear up some of the issues I have seen on this board in reference to 160 stat and dyno tunes.

It actually does not affect the fans like that. It opens 20degrees earlier than a 180. Glad you are happy. I think a tune is the best mod for the money
