My car has not ever locked with the fob in the car but decided to do it yesterday ,unfortinatly my other fob happened to be inside the car too.
What factors would cause the doors to lock on any particular occastion. As I have never had them to do this before. I do know if the battery gets low it will happen but I had just got out the car and the battery was fine.
According to the owner's manual, the car will only lock when a fob is left in the car if another fob has exited the car. However, several in the forum have discovered that isn't always true. It is possible that the car is only recognizing 1 fob in the car and "thinks" the other fob has left the car.
The best solution to prevent this from happening again is to either turn off auto-locking or else be sure you've always got one fob in your pocket and the other outside the car somewhere.
You evidently have the memory function set to autolock the car for at least one of the fobs.
Many of us have learned our lessons the hard way. You have now lost your cherry. Do not have it programed to auto-lock. Lock it each time with the fob.
How about this one, wife and I take ride both get out of car fob in pocket, wife wants to sit in car unlock car she get in closes door windows up. I walk away. Look back at car several minute later and wife is knock on window looking like puppy about to pass out from heat..
I did not have my key as it was with one of the fobs. I normaly do not keep both in the car but went to Road Atlanta for a DE and took both of them with me. I changed into shorts on the way home and left the fobs in my pants pocket. Got home, washed the car and went to open the doors to pull the car in the garage and was locked out. I had to go to the dealership the next morning and get them to make a key. I raised cain with them about the 40 charge as they also said it is not supposed to lock with both fobs in the car. I still had to pay the charge but Chevrolet is supposed to reinburse me.

What are the chances!
1 FOB is like my American Express....I never leave home with out it.
The other is in my office seperate from the key. Just for this very reason. At least you got in
I do the same, fob in pocket, horn set to beep 3x, and found the best way to do it everytime is by having the widow valet, every single time I close the door I use the WV to close the windows.
