Ive got an 05/A4 and the gears suck, I think they are 2:73's (how do I find out), and I need somthin deeper. I still do to much highway driving for 3:73's so I think somthin around 3:42's would be better suited for me. My Question is where do I get them? Is there anybody in GA, or east AL that sells and installs these for me, and about how much is it gona run? Im only wanting gears as I dont think a new diff is really needed. I dont plan on ever going over 525 rwhp, but even that is pretty far down the road.
I got some black powdercoated rims and WCC lowering bolts going on this weekend!
Sgt. Speed,
We do all of our gear changes in-house. We have the "J-tools" from GM to build your differential with a different ratio.
To start, you should see which housing you have based on the gear ratio.
You can check your current gear ratio by several methods.
1) Look in window sticker
2) Look at diff rear cover. The ratio is on the metal plate riveted to the diff.
3) Call me or a dealer with the VIN and we can decipher the code
On an automatic, it is a VERY noticeable upgrade in acceleration. You are going to love it!
Go for the gears I have a 05 c6 with 315 gears and they really sucked,so I changed them to 373 gears and added a 3200 stall.Holy crap what differance, the car is way more from to drive. If you have any questions im more than happy to answer them. Gary
