Default Let's just say...

You were a normal guy (ok, you drive a vette, so let's say above average) and you decided on a preset budget of $500/month for mods. You have in your possession a 2006-2007 C6 Stock Corvette.

AND, Assuming that if you wanted a Mod that cost $2000, you'd have to save up for 4 months.

What Performance/appearance Mods would you do, and in what order?

Just thought I'd ask some of you folks what you might do if you had it to do all over.

Knowing what I know now after spending well over that on mods for my 2005 C6. I would either:

1. Bank the money and use it towards a Z06.

2. If my car was financed, use it towards the principle owed on the car.

3. Bank the money and use it towards a C7.

4. Bank the money and use it toward any other debts.

5. Bank the money and use it towards the purchase of my next set of tires.

I would not, spend it on modding a C6 Vette. Because that 2 grand spent on mods, is money I am never going to see again. 2 grand is not going to buy much performance anyway. Money up the bird's a$$.

Well in a way, i have to agree with him on $2000.

First mods:
Vararam $350

Get headers,160 t-stat and save for the install and dyno tune. That should be about $2000 total. You install the Vararam and save on the install.

i think the best bang for the buck would be a CAI (i went vararam) and a tune ( I went with Chuck CoW and am happy with the performance and his support).

getting rid of the torque management and playing with fuel trims has really added to the experience.

After that, a cam or headers would be my next choice unless you want to run spray (NOS) before getting into bigger dollars of a supercharger or turbos ($$$)

your mileage may vary........

Sorry, never meant to imply that $2K was the maximum. It was just an example so that you had to put some thought into what you would buy first as you might have to wait to continue the process.

Well if you go for your first round of mods, i would go with Vararam,Headers,160 t-stat and dyno tune.

I never ran the car in the 1/4 stock, but i did run the car in the 1/8 stock and i went from a best of 8.883@83.06mph to 8.215@89.56mph with headers, vararam and a dyno tune. So .6 tenths,6mph is what i gained from those mods. Is your car a manual or auto?

I had a similar mod budget so my mods went something like this

1) Cat back exhaust
2) Interior trim package and painted frcs
3) Vararam CAI
4) Cow tune
5) Wheels
6) Headers

Various other little things thrown in here and there.

Now I have a supercharger sitting in my living room waiting to be installed this weekend. This was my 1 year without smoking present to myself.

LMB is the fastest color so you are off to a great start!

If I started over again with my car stock I would do the following:

First I'd get the Ultimate Detail Machine from Autogeek and an assortment of foam pads. Also get some of their new Supreme 530 Microfiber towels. I personally like the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant and Wolfgang Finishing Glaze but that is another whole discussion. Then get some Adam's detail spray and their Super-Plush Microfiber Towels to use with it.

Ditch the run craps and get some decent tires. I like the BFG KDWII and I did Chrome wheels too because they are easier to keep clean.

If you have a manual get an MGW shifter.

Vararam

LG LT Headers & Tune

4.10 gears

NPP exhaust with M2W

Thats what i have also(A6).

My first round of mods were 1 3/4 kooks, kooks 3` x-pipe and high flow cats(X-pipe steps down to 2.5 for exhaust,so you can say 3-2.5),vararam,160 t-stat,b&b rt.66 exhaust, and dyno tune. Thats what i did for the first round of mods.

This will cost more than $2000.
