Default Memory

I recent bought a 2004 Zo6 and the memory is completely borked. The mirror goes to some wierd setting every single time the seat sometimes goes to where it needs to. Every time iget in the car i have to adjust the mirror. Im guessing this is a common problem?

It is not common. Do you notice that your mirror always go to the same setting? If so, then you need to reset your mirror setting so the seat memory would remember it.

My 2006 MN6 does this all the time. The steering wheel comes back to my set position but the seat does not move. I have to nudge the power seat lever a tad and the hit memory 1 again and it then works.
It works normal about 1/2 have the time and is messsed up the other.
Please let me know if you have any luck.
I have the exact same issue. Is this module the black box underneath the drivers seat or is it located elsewhere? Anyone know which actual part within this module is failing? (relays, resistors, etc)

Thanks guys!

Mine hasn't worked right from day 1 it's the CLB of the C6 world

I am out of warranty so without a recall I am screwed...hmmm wonder if it would be covered under my extended warranty.

After over a year of frustration staring when the car was only a few months old and 4 trips to the dealer and then a complaint to GM (while it was still under warranty) it got fixed.

Dealer could not consistly repeat the prblem to diagnose it. So they told me, even thougfh I would drive it in to teh dealer with the seat locked in the far back position and the memory recall not working.

I can't find my paperwork on this off hand.

But I remember the dealer had to order parts and wait a week or so for the parts to arrive. From fussy memory, I think they ordered a whole new power seat contol unit or module.

No problems since the dealer fix and its been almost 2 years now with seat memory working 100% of the time.

So I would recommend guys with seat memory problem to get the seat module replaced.
It is NOT the seat module. Replacing it seems to work because that also requires a reset. The reset temporarily 'fixes' the problem. Had this on my '05, and now on my '09. Never did get the problem totally resolved on my '05. It is likely the seat motor 'forgetting' where it is, which why all the temporary measures work (resetting, moving the seat, etc.).

My '08 randomly forgets its entry settings but always works fine for the exit mode. Sucks!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the tips. Mine does the same thing. It randomly works when it feels like it. I will try the re-indexing tip this afternoon.

Now a year later, the same problem is happening again. took the car to the dealer and they uploaded the latest firmware upgrade however this time, it did not fix the problem. It only happens sometimes however when it does happen then it will screw up for 3+ per day and then the next day everything is working fine again.

Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do to fix this? My warranty will only last for about 6 more months and would like to have this problem solved before it goes out of warranty. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
I find that if I remember to hit the "Driver #1" button on the door while the tranny is in neutral and the emergency brake is still set that the seat and the steering wheel return to their set positions. Upon shutdown and exit, wheel and seat retract properly to my programmed exit positions. Hope that helps a little.

My '06 A6 did the same thing in '06. They replaced the shifter, and no problems since.

Default Seat Memory

2007 Coupe, LT3 Z51 - 23,187 mile

I took the car to the dealer 4 times over the 3 year warranty period and they did the reset thing and it worked for a few weeks then same thing, forgets where it is on entry.

I took it back to the dealer 1 month after expiration of the warranty and they said the seat module needed replacing, $867.00 plus $145.00 labor. I said this has been in 4 times during the warranty with same issue and you reset and said go away.

Dealer response.. We did not know what was wrong before, now we know it requires a part replacement.

I said, it has been under warranty until 1 month ago.

Dealer response.. It's out of warranty now...

The dealer is an ***. Call the GM customer service/complaint line located in your service manual. GM will then contact the dealer. I am betting you'll see a new attidute.

(Yes, I have done this on the the recommendation of a family member who is a GM employee. 2 years of dealer incompetence was finally resloved)

I don't believe the C-6's have the same capability that the C-5 seats had in that they set the seats based upon the fob being used to unlock the car. It is needed to touch the #1 or 2 button when you enter the car and I believe its in the owner's manual and the brake handle must be up for this to work.

Why would that be involved?? My A6/06 has been having seat issues for a few months now.

I'll try the unplug and re plug method and see if that works.

I think you're right for the stick shift, but the auto knows which fob was used to start and automatically does the memory thing (if installed/activated).

Mine is doing the same thing, but also cutting out the manual controls as well!

I did find that by grabbing the wiring harness coming from the seat and pulling it, the manual seat functions would come back.

Then I have to hold the wiring harness move the seat forward a little and then the memory button would work.

So I know I at least have a short somewhere, I don't know if it’s causing the whole problem yet, but I’m going to pull the harness out this weekend and look for a short somewhere.

Well, a "Short" would probably blow the fuse, an "Open" is more likely.
