Default adjusting exhaust tips

I have had my exhaust for about a month and they are not completely straight. At first, it didn't bother me too much... but, now as time goes on I become more bothered everytime I see it. Is there a way I could get under there and adjust them myself? I had them installed, didn't install them myself..... But, I was just hoping I could fix it myself. Or am I gunna have to get it on a lift to do it? Let me know. Thanks!

If you can get the car up 16" or so, you can loosen the clamps on the center section where they join the muffler hoops and straighten them yourself.

Everything should be just clamped together - loosen the clamps and you can wrestle things around until they line up. It's pretty intuitive.

Some shop's spot weld the joints to prevent moving. If that's the case you could have a problem. I had to grind the spot weld off of mine.

I am pretty positive they did not weld them. I got it done at a reputable place.

I'll try doing this. Just need to find a way to get it up about 16".

It depends how yours is out of alignment - you may be able to adjust via the clamps immediately adjacent to the muffler. In that case you don't need to have the vehicle very high in the air at all.

I do not know whose system you have but here are a few suggestions for helping you align the tips that should work on any system.

- Raise car as previously stated making sure it is correctly supported.
- loosen both clamps at the front of the axle back section. You don't loosen them much just enough to allow you to move the system.
- Adjust the system so the tips are aligned front to rear by sliding each side forward or backwards as needed.
- Now that the front to rear alignment is done take a straight edge (we use a piece of angle aluminum and place under the tips. Rotate the muffler sections so all of the tips are aligned and tighten the clamps. (Note: If you have some of those spring type clamps you can clamp the tips to the straight edge to help hold them in place while tightening the clamps).
- Double check the alignment and enjoy.

I hope this helps.

Hey Mark,

I have the bullets!

I will try these suggestions. What it looks like is the middle 2 tips are slightly higher than the outer 2 tips. I need to figure out if I need to rotate them toward the middle just a bit to make the outers come up, or what else I could do. I am not sure exactly how to adjust them or turn them or what not.

You are on the right track. Loosen the clamps and rotate both sides inward slightly until the tips are level and then retighten.
