Default dealer installing new tranny

I have a 06 c6 mn6 z51 car with 445 rwhp and 4.10's. 2nd gear and 3rd are shot and the dealer is looking to replace the tranny cause its cheaper to replace it then rebuild it. I was wondering if anyone knows if they would replace it with the newer 08 model or the same 06 one? I'm wondering because I keep reading that the 08's are having problems grinding when cold. What did they change in the 08's? Aside from the grinding issue are they stronger?

it's a completely new tranny. 600lb ft torque rating. The t56 shifts much worse at high rpm and hold only 450 torque. If GM isn't using this tranny anymore they will prob. give you a tr-6060. Also, it doesn't grind when cold. It's more of a notchy feeling that goes away after 10 min the first time you drive the car that day. Hope this helps.

Why would GM pay for it if your car is modified???

Yeah, I was a bit surprised myself about them picking up the bill. I had a freak problem where a bolt came out of the bell housing area and fell into the clutch and would not let it disengage, they would not warrenty that due to the fact that the shop, carolina auto masters, removed the bell housing when doing the cam, the dealer said they cross threaded it I had them put the z06 clutch in while it was appart but it wasnt cheap. I guess because the tranny
s never been touched they said they would warrenty it, anyway, I wasnt about to ask to many questions Its a wide body too with 345's on it so maybe the extra traction and all did it in? Not sure

I doubt they will be putting in a different transmission since parts like that are ordered off the VIN number, especially if warranty is picking up the tab.
