When I am in gear at slower speeds (0-15mph) and take a turn, there is a wierd grinding sound and vibration. Never happens when I'm in a straight line, and it does not happen in the same situations when I'm in neutral and/or when the clutch is out.
I feel like the more I have to turn the steering wheel, the more I experience the grinding/vibration. Also if I'm going really slow and turning in 1st gear in a parking lot for example, the noise corresponds to the lurching or uneasiness of letting off the gas at a really low speed.
It can't be a steering issue because there is absolutely no sound when the clutch is out during a turn, or when I'm in neutral in a turn. So it must be a transmission problem, but it only occurs when I'm turning.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this? It's a pretty nasty sound.
Hummmm I was gonna say sounds like rear end gear chatter/binding, but you just mentioned it does not happen when the clutch is in so that would eliminate anything from the rear end since that is spinning regardless of what the clutch is doing...hummm wish I could help
