New 2008 M6, NPP, 1900 miles. Was driving Sunday and the 1-4 shift light came on, pretty much locked up the transmission except gears 1 and 2 when the check engine light came on. I pulled over, shut off car restarted hoping to reset the light. Car started, shifted fine in all gears, check engine light remains on. Had onstar diagnose the problem and they said the ECM controller regarding the 1-4 shift in the transmission has malfunctioned and that I need to take the vehicle in for review by dealer. Is this something where I can just disconnect the negative wire on the battery and reset the computer on the car? No error codes appeared on the DIC. Anyone ever had this happen and will a battery disconnect eliminate light and reset the system? Car shifts fine now.

Before taking it to the dealer (especially if you have had a tune) I would try the power off reset method. If every thing is normal, you should be good to go. A good tool to have around is a scan tool since there are no codes displayed on the DIC like in the C5. Using the scan tool you can see what code(s) are active and reset the CEL. You can get one at Autozone or Wally World (Wal Mart) or many other places. I got one on Amazon.com. Be sure to get an OBDII CAN enabled reader.
Do you hate the 1-4 skip shift installed on the C6 Manual Transmission? This little device will elimate that annoying issue.
This kit will allow you to disable the Computer Aided Gear Selection (CAGS) feature of your C5 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox. This kit uses genuine Delphi Packard Electric Systems division connectors, plugs and seals to protect your wiring harness and CAGS solenoid to allow you to re-connect the harness for full CAGS function, if you so desire. This kit is designed for use on both the standard MN6 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox and also the M12 Z06 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox. No permanent modifications are required to install this product.
Takes 5 mins to install and is easily reversable.
Each Kit comes with complete installtion instructions.
NOTE: This kit will prevent the CAGS solenoid from engaging but the "1 to 4" light on the dash will still illuminate when skip shift conditions are met.
