I have read the Stickies on this and have looked at the alternatives. However, they all seem to be pointing to 2004 and older corvettes. I have a 2005 c6 and I am getting this issue. It is not locking the steering wheel, it just won't start the car. GM just suggests that I pay to have it towed to a dealer and pay them to fix it. I was wondering if anyone could help me.
Will the CLB designed for the 2004 'vette fix my problem?
That's what I would do. If it's the original it's time. Mine died in 22 months. You could have a load test done on it but if it's the original I'd replace it.
I remember having this problem on my 99 C5, but not on my C6. I have an 05 MN6 also, and the 05 MN6's have a know power drain problem. They corrected it in 06 I believe. I have the optima battery but it's red, and I still have problems from time to time. Not sure what the difference between the red and yellow optima battery is. I would suggest you have the battery fully charged and tested out of the car and see what happens. But I bet the battery is a bit weak. If you do change it, go back with the optima, in an 05 a cheap battery will not last long do to the power draw issue.
I have to charge mine every so often because I only drive my car about once a week at most and it might be just to the store and back. But if you drive it daily you shouldn't have the same issue, be sure to check that the charging system is working also.

The service column lock message is a common message thrown out when an '05 MN6 restarts from a dead or nearly dead battery. Make sure that your car has had the BCM reflash to ensure that you don't get sudden dead batteries from DBS. Dreaded battery syndrome.

Not all 2005s have the problem. In over four years I've never had the problem and I've been on vacation for three weeks twice with out a dead battery. For those that have the DBS problem there is a BCM reflash as recommened by Hoonose. He has had personal experience with the problem.
I had this problem about a week and a half ago. Had the car jumped after about 20 minutes of charging and a battery pull. Two days later, the car wouldn't start again. Finally got around the replace the battery two days ago... started fine yesterday
I made it to my girlfriends house and back yesterday. Today I made it to a sports bar, watched the cowboys kick some butt, got in my car, it started... BUT, nothing worked but the car. The AC was hot, the gauges didn't work or light up, navigation was off.... I was stuck in the car in the hot texas heat. I had no choice but the remove the top and climb out the top once I got here to my girlfriends.
Now it won't start. Took the battery to have it tested... good, alternator... tested good as well. FOB battery was replaced 3 months ago. Tried swapping out the FOB battery again right now just in case... still won't turn on. I have no idea what to do. I'm at my gf's and my car won't start... so here I am, extremely aggravated. Almost ready to trade the car in for an 2010 camaro... if anyone knows what the heck is going on... please help.
Forgot to mention... I have an 05 MN6 Z51 3LT w/navi, Ipod lockpick and removable top. Dont know if it matter????
You need to look in your manual and see that there is an emergency door exit pull on the floor by the doors!
Next, make sure your car has had the DBS BCM reflash. Your dealer can check if it's been done. This reprogram might prevent future dead batteries for you.

Try taking the Lockpick out - there are two models, one if you have XM and one if you don't, and if you get the wrong model you will have dead battery problems.
I know, I had dead batteries each morning until I took it out and got the right Lockpick. They will exchange it for you.
