2005 C-6 completely dead
Towed three of the four!
First week, wouldn't crank - they said it was a bogus error code and just deleted the code. It started then did the same thing the next week.
Next week (Tue - Thur) - replaced the PCM and ECM
Next week (Tue - Fri) - "steering column locked" replaced both FOBs
Same week (Fri) - picked it up from the dealership, drove to the nail salon, had it towed back to the dealership.
Saturday told me it was a dead battery and they were charging it but would keep it until Monday to be sure.
Monday called me and told me it was holding a charge just fine and no error codes. (I wouldn't come get it).
Tuesday I said I would come get it... Get to the dealership and it wouldn't start for them.
The tech and service guys are saying my car is possessed and they have no clue why it's doing this.
Sound familiar???

Any suggestions as a "higher up" to speak to and I am all over it!

Has your buddy resolved the issue or is he going through it right now too?
Oh! Just for a bit more info... I am at 33,300 miles and it's a 6-speed coupe.
If the dealership said they replaced the PCM (and charged you for a PCM in addition to an ECM) you might want to inquire about that. I know GM still makes references to a PCM but I believe there is no PCM, per se, in the C6. I believe the functions of the 'PCM' are incorporated within the ECM.
If you had no trouble prior to taking it in to the dealer...they obviously screwed something up. If they persist in saying they don't have a clue, I'd ask them about having another dealership look at the car. Saying 'we don't have a clue' is not acceptable...there is a solution. Maybe that would light a fire under them to trouble-shoot the problem.
Good luck.
PS A faulty cylinder lock...you'd think that would be the first thing they checked.
On a Wed. a few months ago, I was leaving work for the day, went to my car and pressed the start button. Nothing. Continued pressing the start button... Electronics would turn on, the battery gauge said 12.5, but the engine wouldn't crank (no error message displayed). I had it towed to my usual dealership (20 miles away, so I had a $91 tow bill.) They looked at it the next day and the error code that was generated didn't match anything in the tech's manuals. They called "engineering". The code didn't mean anything to them either so they instructed the tech to delete the line of code and see if it started. It did. They called me to pick up my car.
One week later, I left the office at lunch, stopped at a copy shop around the corner to have some copies made. Went back to the car, no start... Just like the week before (still no error displayed). Called AAA, requested another flat bed and had it towed to the dealership within my 7-mile range. They replaced the PCM, BCM, and ECM (if any of them are combined, then maybe the tech was talking over my head).
The next week, I drove to mom's house to take her to dinner. When I pressed the starter button, nothing. Pressed it again, nothing. One more time "Steering Column Locked" appeared but the car started. I called my normal dealership to ask what that meant and he stated, "Please bring me your car. We need to look at it as soon as possible. You may have a computer that is failing." I drove it up to them. After doing their diagnostics they asked for the second FOB to be brought to them because they felt there was an issue with the FOBs.
They called me to come pick it up... I drove off, went three blocks away to have my nails done and meet a friend for coffee (hour and a half). Got back in the car, pressed the start button... I wouldn't crank over. I called the dealership and said "don't go home yet, I'm having it towed back." (it was closing time.) In the amount of time that I was on the phone with the dealer (3 mins max) everything went dead. I was stuck in the car - I had to use the emergency release on the side of the seat to get the door open.
The next day, they called me and said it was just a dead battery but they would keep it over the weekend just to be on the safe side. On Monday (this week), they wanted me to come get it and I asked them to keep it one more day and just keep trying to start it. By Tuesday, they were convinced that it was not going to give me any more trouble so I agreed to come get it. So, get to the dealership, they go to get my car... Voila! It acted up for them!!!! (I knew if I left it there long enough it would do it again!!!!) They couldn't believe it. It did the several pushes to get it started then when it did, it gave them the "steering column locked" error.
So... after taking another day to look at it, they called yesterday to say that they were replacing the Cylinder Lock Module and it's on order, expected in on Monday.
The more I read about the steering lock issues from the C5, and that only the 2005 C6 has something similar, I'm sort of hoping this will be the end of the issue.
BTW~ Sorry this was sooo long! This is a wonderful forum!
