Your plug gap is determined by your TOTAL ignition system energy. Please consult your engine builder for a proper gap for your application.

Heat hinders the performance of the ignition wire. The quality of the silicone in our wires is great. It's resistance to heat is high, plus we add a heat sleeving to the majority wire component.

The construction and materials of the wire is a larger benefit than simply being fatter.

Fatter wires (ie.meaning more silicone) gives some buffer to the heat like a really chubby swimmer has resistance to cold water. It doesn't always mean that he has a 6-pack abs under all that fat.

Stock wires are fine unless you want to run a larger gap.
Better wires are not going to do much with-out running
a wider gap.

This is why GM reduced the gaps from the ls-1's .060 to now .040
of the 08 specs to reduce possible misfires caused by the wide gap.Not enough juice with the stock wire.
The wire is an extenstion of the Coil and the Coil is only as good as the wire. Cheaper for GM to reduce the gap than replace the coil and or wires.
In this case .060 or what I like Is the NGK tr-55's right out of the box pregapped at .059. Just check the gap, find which cly to put it in by hand, tighting each plug with a marked sparkplug socket
with the mark matching the postion of the electrode on the plug.

Position each plug electrode at about 10 oclock. by trail and error.
Tighten the plug just snug. One sixteenth turn past finger tight is
fully tight.! 10 oclock puts the plug straight facing the intake valve. This a super tune tip not many do and it's well worth it
You'll need a least 20 plugs to do a good job!
You will find
quicker easier starts
smoother idle
1 1/2 horse per cly for every plug turned away.
The Car WILL run noticibly better!
