I've read that the 7mm GM wires are as good as any. I'm surprised that you want new wires other than the 8mm will look bigger.
i laid into my vette yesterday at 120 degrees coolant temp. and it ran it's azz off with a little sputtering at the higher rpm. When the collant temp hit 200 degrees it sputters and spits. very aggravating! Any way b/4 it goes into a shop I changed my NGK tr55's and put new 55's back in. Same result. I have been told the wires probably need to be changed. I was just surprized they were 7mm. I am getting NO check engine light I just want to change these delco,s. They have the protective metal heat shields on them and they look ok, but they just can't take the heat.
Get Msd they are really improved to a nice wire! Some buddy going to chime in and "say save your money blah blah . I had the stock wires and with Ngk's gapped aroud ..060. I took them back out, in favor of the stock plugs. Then I switched to the msd with the Ngk's indexed at the out the box .059. Runs better all the way round! You won't gain any with out opening your plug gaps. The msd's allow a wider gap
do to the less resistance of the wire. They allow more current and voltage to the plug.

Feel free to look at our MTI Racing Plug Wires.
They are made by the same constructor who makes high energy ignition wires for IRL and Daytona prototype racecars.
They consist of:
- High energy wire-wound core with 7mm Silicone insulation jacket
- Stainless steel terminals for superior corrosiion resistance
- High temperature silicone boots
- Silicone over Fiberglass Heat Sleeving adds additional heat and abrasion protection to wire.
- Fits with or without headers
- Resistance of only 180-200 ohms
Any radio 'static' problems when using these wires?

Man, I found the problem. I put the 8.5 MSD wires on and it runs like a champ. the thicker wires are more heat resistent. I will NEVER buy a Delco 7mm wire again. Plus the metal heat shields fit MUCH better on the MSD's. Anyway thanks everyone for the advice.

No, thank you for your advice. I'll go to the 8.5's if I need new wires.
I hate MSD. Garbage. Local tuner makes wires like MTI. Good stuff.
Your nuts, they have improved, from the old MSD's which were not top notch, Now they are one of the best wires out! Try a new set you will be happy you did. They allow opening the plug gap to .060 which the stock wires show missfire with the .060 gap on the dyno.
